Harvey Bryant has been a prosecutor 26 of the 35 years he has practiced law in the Hampton Roads area. His professional leadership of one of the three largest prosecutor’s offices in the state, consisting of 37 attorneys prosecuting 16,000 criminal charges per year, has been recognized by his colleagues across the state. He was selected a board member in 2002 and then chairman in 2005 of the Criminal Law Section of the Virginia State Bar, with a membership of 2,000 attorneys and judges. He has served as a board member of the Commonwealth’s Attorneys Services Council for eight years, including almost 2 years as chairman. That state agency is charged with training the state’s prosecutors. In 2007, Harvey was elected president of the Virginia Association of Commonwealth’s Attorneys representing over 800 Virginia prosecutors, and continues his eight years of service as an Association board member.
