The VBPD Retirement and Promotion Ceremony was a great event once again. I was very proud of those honored and feel priviliged to have observed and been part of their careers in law enforcement. It was especially gratifying to hear Sgt. Jackie Geluso take the time in her remarks to thank my prosecutors for their excellent work in cases involving “Special Victims” of child molestation and sexual assault. We work and train dilligently in that area so that victims and their families know that some of the most experienced prosecutors in my office are handling their case. I will not assign prosecutors with less than 3 years of prosecution experience to the trial team that handles these cases (the least experienced prosecutors of the 37 attorneys I’ve hired have 18 months prosecution experience).
