Harvey went to a very meaningful National FOP Convention in Long Beach CA. When VB police officer Darryl Plude addressed the convention from Afganistan in full battle gear with an FOP flag behind him, he got a roaring standing ovation from the 3,500 delegates that brought goose bumps to those of us on stage at the time. Shortly before, I was responding to a request for an interview by WHRO radio on the (almost) universally recognized importance of the special session of our General Assembly to counteract a US Supreme Court case that was jeopardizing the prosecution of drug and DUI crimes and sex offender registration cases .Thanks WHRO and Cathy Lewis for the opportunity to explain to the public the problems the Sup. Court created for Va. and other states, and what the needed solutions were and are.
I was very proud of the presentation Va. Beach made to the convention. Congrats to VB FOP President Doug Zebley and the committee that worked so hard for a over a year to prepare. And it was quite a sight to see Mayor Sessoms handing out T-shirts while working the crowd, and to see Chief Jacocks,Sheriff Lanteigne and me blowing up hundreds of beach balls to throw to the crowd! Pictures to follow!
Sorry I missed the Young Republicans event in Kempsville last night, great food and kickball for a crowd of about 100, I’m told. I was glad to have been a sponsor of that event, and to field the “Guilty Please” team. Thanks to my wife Donna for going for me while I was enroute from the convention.
