Harvey Bryant, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Virginia Beach announced today that a grand jury sitting in Virginia Beach Circuit Court returned indictments against 97 individuals. A grand jury sits in Virginia Beach the first and third Monday of every month. Investigators for the Virginia Beach Department of Human Services presented indictments against 10 individuals involving welfare fraud. These offenses carry up to 20 years in the penitentiary and a fine of $2,500. Those individuals are:

*Richard Moses’ 3 prior DUI convictions occurred in Virginia Beach. If convicted Mr. Moses faces a mandatory minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 10 years in the penitentiary, a $1,000 mandatory fine, and indefinite suspension of his operator’s license.
The grand jury also indicted 19 individuals charged with felony drug offenses.
“This was a busy session for the grand jury,” Bryant said. “They also indicted numerous individuals for murder, armed robberies, burglaries, malicious woundings, grand larcenies and aggravated sexual battery.”
