Harvey L. Bryant, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Virginia Beach, announced that a grand jury meeting in Virginia Beach Circuit Court today returned indictments against 83 individuals charging 157 separate offenses. This brings the total number of indicted defendants by the grand jury for July 2009 to 212, and 1,185 for the year.
A total of 14 defendants were charged with felony drug crimes, comprising 18% of those indicted today. The grand jury also charged 4 individuals for felony Driving Under the Influence. Those individuals are:

The grand jury also returned numerous indictments charging grand larceny, burglary, aggravated sexual battery, driving after having been declared a habitual offender, credit card fraud, and gambling- operating an enterprise.
