Harvey L. Bryant, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Virginia Beach, announced that a grand jury meeting in Virginia Beach Circuit Court today returned indictments against 77 individuals charging 164 separate offenses. Among the charges were 19 grand larcenies, 14 robberies, 8 burglaries, and 19 firearm charges. Twenty-three of the charges were felony drug charges.
The grand jury returned indictments against alleged serial rapist Christopher Carl Minifee. The alleged offenses occurred on August 10th and September 12th of this year, on 24th Street and 80th Street of Virginia Beach, respectively. Minifee is charged with 1 count of robbery with the use of a gun or simulated gun, 1 count of attempt robbery, 9 counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, 2 counts of rape, 2 counts of malicious wounding, 1 count of forcible sodomy, and 1 count of sexual penetration with an object. If convicted, Minifee could face up to 7 life sentences plus 91 years in the penitentiary.
The grand jury also charged 5 individuals with Driving Under the Influence. Those individuals are:
