Harvey L. Bryant, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Virginia Beach, announced that a grand jury meeting in Virginia Beach Circuit Court today returned indictments against 68 individuals charging 107 separate offenses. This brings the total number of indictments by the grand jury to 137 for November 2009.
The grand jury returned an indictment against Delegate Bobby Mathieson’s former legislative assistant, Jason W. Robinson, for embezzlement. Robinson is alleged to have embezzled over $50,000 in campaign funds between December 2007 and September 2009.
The grand jury charged 5 individuals with felony Driving Under the Influence. Those 5 individuals are:

The grand jury also returned an indictment against Edward Aaron Powell for first degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Among the remaining charges presented to the grand jury were 25 felony drug charges, 19 grand larcenies, 4 robberies, 5 burglaries, 4 firearm charges, and 4 felony hit and runs.
