Grand Jury Returns 50 Indictments: Alleged Serial Rapist Faces More Charges

Harvey L. Bryant, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Virginia Beach, announced that a grand jury meeting in Virginia Beach Circuit Court today returned indictments against 48 individuals. This brings the total this month to 125 who have been indicted for a wide variety of felony crimes. Among the charges were 13 robberies, 5 burglaries, 8 malicious woundings, 11 fire arm charges, 3 grand larcenies, and 10 felony drug offenses.

The grand jury returned indictments against alleged serial rapist Christopher Carl Minifee for 2 counts each of rape and forcible sodomy, and one count each of burglary, robbery, abduction, and malicious wounding. The alleged offenses occurred on May 28th of this year in the Green Run area of Virginia Beach. Minifee was indicted by the grand jury earlier this month for rapes that occurred on August 10th and September 12th of this year, on 24th Street and 80th Street of Virginia Beach, respectively.

Investigators for the Virginia Beach Department of Human Services presented indictments against 3 individuals involving welfare fraud. These offenses carry up to 20 years in the penitentiary and a fine of $2,500. Those individuals are:
