Harvey L. Bryant, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Virginia Beach, announced that a grand jury meeting in Virginia Beach Circuit Court today returned indictments against 100 individuals charging 265 offenses. This brings the total number of indictments returned by the grand jury to 1961 for 2009. Among the charges indicted today were 39 felony drug offenses, 25 grand larcenies, 28 robberies, 34 burglaries, 20 firearm charges, and 6 abductions.
The grand jury charged 4 individuals with felony Driving Under the Influence. Those individuals are:

“During this time of the year we are seeing an increase in the number of robberies, burglaries, larcenies, and driving under the influence,” Bryant said. “It is important to be extra cautious in ensuring that the doors of your homes and vehicles are locked and packages are kept out of plain view. Be aware that the number of drivers under the influence of alcohol will increase. If you see any suspicious behavior, don’t hesitate to call 911,” Bryant added.
