Commonwealth v. Wilder; Guilty Plea to 3 Robberies

Harvey L. Bryant, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Virginia Beach, announced today that Yohannes Woldebzg Wilder, previously residing in the 1300 Block of Baltic Street, Suffolk, Virginia, entered a guilty plea to three (3) counts of Robbery and one count of violation of probation today before the Honorable A. Bonwill Shockley. He is set to be sentenced in accordance with a plea agreement on May 19, 2009.

The Commonwealth’s evidence proved that on December 18, 2007, Wilder robbed a cashier at Planet Music on Virginia Beach Boulevard. He indicated he had a gun and took $450 cash from the register. Three days later, he robbed the manager at Blockbuster video on Holland Road. Again, he indicated that he had a gun and had her give him the money from the registers. The next evening, on December 21, 2007, the defendant robbed a cashier at a Farm Fresh on Kempsville Road. As with the prior robberies the defendant indicated he had a gun and took the money from the register. Virginia Beach Police caught the defendant fleeing from the scene.
