Release Date: Monday, September 14, 2009 5 p.m.
Harvey L. Bryant, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Virginia Beach, announced today that Jeremy Kendale Robinson, 23 years old, previously residing in the 5600 block of Elizabeth Court, Virginia Beach was sentenced today by Circuit Court Judge Leslie L. Lilley to a total of fifty-five (55) years in the Virginia Department of Corrections for Robbery, Attempted Robbery, Conspiracy, Armed Statutory Burglary, Wearing a Mask in Public and two (2) counts of Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony. All but eleven (11) years of Robinson’s sentence was suspended conditioned upon forty (40) years good behavior and indefinite supervised probation.
The Commonwealth’s evidence proved that on the evening of November 19, 2008, the 69-year- old victim and her 66-year-old brother had retired for the evening. Robinson, along with co-defendants Germiel Jacobs and Jermaine Ford, kicked in the front door of their home wearing masks and armed with a handgun. While holding a gun to the victims’ heads, the intruders demanded money from them. After ransacking the home and taking a wallet and cell phone, the victims heard someone say, “Let’s go, we got the wrong house”. Before leaving, one of the victims was hit in the head with a handgun. Robinson, Jacobs and Ford then exited the home and entered a car in the parking lot where co-defendant James Pope was waiting for them.
The co-defendants’ cases are still pending.
Associate Commonwealth’s Attorney Tabitha B. Anderson prosecuted this case. Please call Julie Pickell if additional information is desired.
