Harvey L. Bryant, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Virginia Beach, announced today that Anthony Poulis, 55 years old, was sentenced by the Honorable Patricia L. West to eleven (11) years in the Virginia Department of Corrections.
The Commonwealth’s evidence proved that on June 19, 2009, the defendant, Anthony Poulis, walked into the Wachovia Bank located at 1548 Laskin Road. He then ran out of the bank. Later that same day he was apprehended and admitted he robbed the bank in order to support his “crack” cocaine habit.
In addition to this conviction, the defendant has also been convicted in Pennsylvania of Bank Robbery, Possession of Cocaine and Marijuana, Theft by Deception, Escape, Forgery, and Violation of Probation.
Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Patrick J. Connolly prosecuted the case. Please call Julie Pickell if additional information is desired.
