Harvey L. Bryant, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Virginia Beach, announced today that Kindale Keith Moore, 22 years old, previously residing on Centre Port Circle in Portsmouth, Virginia pleaded guilty before Judge A. Bonwill Shockley to charges of Forcible Sodomy and Burglary with the intent to Rape. The sentencing will take place on May 24, 2011.
Had this matter gone to trial, the Commonwealth’s evidence would have proved that on February 14, 2010, the 88-year-old victim was watching television in the living room of her residence in the City of Virginia Beach. Just before midnight, she was walking down the hallway towards her bedroom when she was met by Kindale Moore. Moore grabbed her by the shoulders and forced her into her bedroom where he sexually assaulted her. He then fled the residence through the front door. Virginia Beach police officers responded to the residence shortly thereafter.
During an interview with detectives from the Special Victims Unit, Moore was observed wearing a pair of shoes which matched the detailed description of the shoes provided by the victim. Moore was also linked to the crimes through DNA analysis.
Moore was previously convicted of Object Sexual Penetration and Burglary in Portsmouth Circuit Court. On January 24, 2011, he was sentenced to 60 years imprisonment on those charges.
Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Thomas M. Murphy and Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Charisse L. Black prosecuted the case. Please call Macie Pridgen if additional information is desired.
