Harvey L. Bryant, Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Virginia Beach, presented four Virginia Beach high school students prizes for their work in an art contest held to design an office seal. The winning students who placed first, second, third, and honorable mention are Shae Johnson of Salem High School, Woojin Ra of Princess Anne High School, Franchesca Soliven of Salem High School, and Cameron Spiro of Frank W. Cox High School, respectively.
The prizes included a $200 check for 1st place, $100 for 2nd, $50 for 3rd, and $25 for honorable mention. Each student was recognized in front of their class and given gifts inscribed with the Commonwealth’s Attorney’s office logo.
The winning seals were selected from 27 creative designs submitted by students in grades 9 through 12. The students had approximately one month to explore ways to incorporate images of both Virginia Beach and the criminal justice system into their artwork.
“I am so proud of the hard work and thought the students put into their designs. I am also appreciative of the support and encouragement from the high school teachers and art departments,” Bryant said.
The 94 dedicated staff members of the Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office prepare and prosecute about 16,000 criminal cases per year. The seal designed to represent the office may be used on letterhead, office apparel, and for display in the office.
